Revealing Old Sarum

A friend has alerted me to the BBC report of a survey which has revealed the ground plan of the medieval city of Old Sarum, abandoned in the mid- thirteenth century in favour of New Sarum - Salisbury - adjacent to the new cathedral built on the banks of the river Avon.
