The History Extra website has republished online an article from the October 2008 edition of the BBC History magazine about shopping - literally in the market place - in later medieval England. It is by Ian Mortimer, author of The Time Travellers Guide to Medieval England, and it creates a useful picture of market day in a town in the period, and of the range and cost of what would have been available.
